We Interrupt…

Dear Reader:

This is just a bit of an official-ish announcement. I am clearly taking a break from the PaperGirl blog for a little while. Everything’s cool. But I can’t commit to the daily blogging right now and to try would be dishonest. Please consider following Quilty, which is written by me. That blog even has pictures! Be honest. You’re excited about that, right?

It isn’t goodbye forever. It can’t be. I love PaperGirl too much and need it too much to sign off for good. But for now, we’ll all just take a little break.

On Being a “Market Kid.”

When we were in Houston 10 or so days ago, I was remembering being a kid with a mom in the quilt industry.

My father wasn’t around, so mom was a single mom, and when she had to go out of town, Gramma stayed with us or a quilting friend from the guild would come for the weekend. Running On Ice.

There’s a volunteer at the theater who is a runner. This is something he came to later in his life; I don’t think he ever ran much as a younger man, but now he’s committed to it. I asked him tonight how his running has been going and he said that he ran today in fact, clocking two miles in right about 15 minutes, which is very good. We chatted about running in cold weather and I told him how before I got sick I used to run quite a bit and that I used to run in the wintertime. … Read entire post

Here now are a few updates:

EXISTENTIAL CRISIS UPDATE
It’s still going on, but I realized the other day that I was exceedingly happy about some very good news and that’s not really in keeping with an existential crisis, is it? I think a full-blown existential crisis means that you’re sort of despondent about the bad and the good. Which doesn’t describe me. But I’m still unsure what all of this [points to air] means and I cannot be calmed in that regard.
