Snowpocalypse! (or “Tootsie and The Jerk”)
It’s snowing in Washington, D.C. and folks are wiggin’, y’all!
They don’t get too much snow in these parts. According to The World Wide Web, the average snowfall in our nation’s capital is approximately 15 inches. This means that when a bigger than usual snow storm is predicted, the townspeople go on red alert. They buy gallon jugs of water and cancel things like school and meetings and, as we have been warned, possibly plays. If the blizzard that has begun keeps going as long as they say it’s going to go (clear into Sunday morning at 9:00am), the Metro train and bus lines may close. If that happens, we won’t be doing our double feature tomorrow night.
Me, I have my doubts. There may be some overreacting going on, here. Of course people who aren’t used to much snow are going to freak about a big storm. They’re going to say things like, “Seriously, it’s shaping up to be the biggest storm in 30 years!” and “Frankly, I’m a little worried.” But I grew up in Iowa, on a farm that was on a rock road way out in the country. We saw some snow out there. And we did okay. If D.C. gets even a fat 8 inches, they may shut down the town anyway, even if there isn’t a clear and present danger. Of getting your shoes wet. Or skidding a little. C’est la vie.
If they do cancel our shows, I think we’ll manage. Jasper said that he’d make a big batch of turkey chili and grilled cheese and maybe order some wings. We’ve all discussed how we need to watch Tootsie and The Jerk, so we’ve got that all lined up. We would grieve the loss of an opportunity to share our art with the world, sure, but come on.
Wings.

In the south they close down everything when there’s only a chance of snow.
There’s little snow this morning in Kenosha. I’m not thrilled, but I can manage.
