Ben Hecht was a fantastic screenwriter who never managed to write the novel he wanted to leave as his legacy. He seems to having A Moment; I recently read a fantastic appreciation in one of the following: NYRB, The Atlantic, The NewYorker.

I might have to read it again, but my first thoughts were that you are a much better writer, a more authentic writer. All I could think of was whoever wrote this was trying too hard to use ‘big’ words, complicated sentences that were not easily digested. But maybe that was his goal. As for me, not a writer or English major, I thank you for sharing that and appreciate how you embrace his style. But, really, don’t underestimate your talent and ability to connect with people.
