And now, a dash into the past because I found myself hating my stove this morning, and it was the second time I had hated it this week.

That looks like the stove we had back in the 70’s
I have that same stove…..but it is now 13 years old!! And it is my new stove. There is a product to clean the top…..works pretty well. Mine actually preheats pretty fast, but you are right about the beeping. The part I find hard to clean is behind the knobs…..always greasy looking.
Sorry yours is so new…..I have hope of rectifying my error…..although I like the glass top better than trying to clean under the coils.
I’m lucky to have a separate cook top & oven. And I’m lucky my cooktop is gas! The builder did NOT want me to have a gas cooktop, but obviously, he doesn’t cook! My oven is electric. The best of all worlds–gas for cooking & electricity for baking!!!
I would like a new cook top–still gas though (or maybe if we suddenly come into a lot of money, one of those newish induction cooktops–they sound as good for cooking & easier to clean! The oven had to be replaced several years ago–almost every time I used the clean function, We would have to replace the Motherboard. Turned out the oven should have been recalled–we’re lucky the house didn’t burn down when I cleaned that oven! Do some research–maybe your oven has (or should be) recalled! Have you had it checked? It should heat up fairly quickly, I would think. I don’t know what to tell you about the cooktop part. I think those induction ones are supposed to have that problem solved–they are only hot when in contact with metal!
